During my second semester in nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz.
consistent I was a student and had breezed through the questions until I got to the last:
- What is the name of the woman who cleans the school?!
Surely this was some kind of joke - I told myself.
I had often seen that woman. She was tall, dark hair, about 40 years, but how would I know her name?
handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.
Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
- Absolutely - said the professor. In your careers you will meet many people. They must learn that all are important. All of them deserve your attention and care, if only they smile and say Hi! and Thanks!
never forgot that lesson.
